A false ceiling had hidden this superb example since the 1960’s. The team from Modillion worked closely with the clients  ,architect  and highly regarded interior designer in this  restoration project. On completion It featured In Homes and  Garden magazine. Great care had to  be taken as not to damage the existing paintwork And the pigments in the  paint. The craftsmen at Modillion then reproduced sections of moulding for  later reinstatement As  specialists in the field of restoring plasterwork  this is the  exciting part of our craft. On the right is a piece of moulding   removed from a Victorian cornice with years of  paint built up , On the  left the paint has been  cleaned away to reveal  the  original crisp detail  of this very pretty scrolled flower, typical of mouldings from this era.
